Kraft has announced plans to cut salt levels in a range of its products

Kraft Foods has announced plans to cut the salt in its products sold in North America by an average of 10% over the next two years to appeal to health-conscious consumers.

It will also reformulate its cheese products in the UK.

The changes at Kraft, the largest US food maker, will affect more than 1,000 products and eliminate more than 4.5 million kg of salt over the two-year period, the company said.

Kraft said it was also is reformulating some items for international markets, including the UK cheese products.
