Wednesday March 17 2010
AUSTRALIAN rockers AC/DC have been tipped as the frontrunners to play at this year's Slane Concert, due to take place this August.
Slane Castle owner Lord Henry Mountcharles said he has provisionally set aside August 28th as the date for this year's event at the castle, which can hold up to 80,000 people.
The veteran rockers, famed for raucous renditions of their hits which include ' Thunderstuck' and 'Whole Lotta Rosie', will be touring with the Black Ice show towards the end of next summer.
Others rumoured to headline the event include Kings of Leon, Stevie Wonder, Muse and Robbie Williams.
The concert has become a national institution since the first event in 1981 when Thin Lizzy headlined.
Owner Lord Henry Mountcharles was honoured at the Meteor Music Awards for his contribution to the Irish Music Industry over the past 30 years. He was presented with his Lifetime Achievement Award by U2's Adam Clayton.
