WITH the food festival well under way last weekend, Night Owl headed out on the town on Saturday last to see who was out enjoying the food and festivities.

We first headed over to Redz bar where we bumped into a group of lads who were celebrating a birthday. Mark Reilly from River Bank was out with three of his best friends to make the most of his 28th birthday.

Pictured with the birthday boy was Graham O'Malley from Bothar Bruagh, Derek Reilly from Newtown Meadows and Colin Cowley from Drogheda.

Even though Mark's birthday was the previous day the lads decided to hit the town on the Saturday and make it a night to remember.

We left the lads to enjoy their night and met another gang across the way.

Eamon Fagan from Dublin, Brendan Smith from Drogheda, Susan Clarke from Duleek and Paul Canavan from Grange Rath enjoy a few drinks in Redz at the weekends and this Saturday night was to be no different.

The group were having a great laugh together and were adamant that the night was not going to end in Redz and they planned to go to a few more pubs.

Another gang who were also enjoying a typical Saturday night out was Michael Metcaffe from Laytown, Kevin Murphy from Drogheda, Colin McCabe from Laytown, Patricia Hanratty from Drogheda, Niamh Reynolds from Drogheda and Edel Gargan from Drogheda. The gang have been good friends for a long time and enjoy going out together as a group at the weekends. They planned on staying in Redz for the night and then heading over to Fusion to hit the dance floor.

A couple who were enjoying the food festival last weekend was Rory McCormack from Ardcath and Bernie Hughes from Sandpit. The pair were enjoying a few drinks in Redz after a meal in the Salthouse. 'The Salthouse was really nice,' said Rory.

The couple admitted that it was a perfect start to a great night out on the town and were looking forward to the rest of the night.

We then met up with a group who were just out for the food festival and were finishing off a great day and night in Redz. Len and Nuala Lynch from Duleek Street and Lorraine and Derek Thornton and their son Derek Jr from the Platin Road were having a fantastic Saturday and were definitely having a great laugh together.

The gang thought the food festival was a great idea and were really enjoying the weekend.

'A lot of the restaurants in the town are putting on certain specials. The Salthouse even have kangaroo and crocodile steak!,' added Nuala.

Also pictured on the night was Thomas and Hazel Francis who started their night off in Redz and planned on heading to Barroco for some cocktails.
