Orion to bring own brand to McHugh's
DROGHEDA band Orion are playing in McHugh's this Friday August 20th but this seems to be just the beginning for the group. Formed in April 2010, the band is made up of Kevin O'Sullivan, lead singer, song writer and Karl Pentony, lead guitar, backing vocals.
Kevin is renowned for his powerful and unique vocals with an almost unlimited range and recently won the 2009 Drogheda X Factor and has played in gigs with Aslan and X-hale.
Back in the late 90s, he played with many other bands, while Karl's flawless and wonderful acoustic guitar style blends the two talents perfectly.
They won the Drogheda 'Stars of our bars' heats in June and there has been a growing interest in their act.
Together they form a unique and very high quality sound with music from the likes of Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Jeff Buckley, Coldplay, Damien Rice, The Frames and Aslan. Doors open at 9pm (Adm €5)
'Secret Police', a four piece rock band from Limerick are coming to play in McHugh's on Saturday August 21st. Undoubtedly influenced by the 90's Seattle Grunge Rock scene they perform with absolutely no shortage of charisma, energy and an onstage swagger.
Secret Police are no strangers to the charts as they have reached number 32 in the Irish Charts with their debut single entitled 'Bootie Call' whilst simultaneously securing number 1 in the download charts for five weeks and attaining single of the week on New music ireland Podcast radio.
They will be supported on the night by Protobaby who also are a rock quartet based in Limerick. Their darker influences range from Joy Division to Interpol.
Doors are open at 9pm and who better to start off the night but our very own Drogheda band, Moonface.
