Eastern delight at Fran's party
JAPANESE GUESTS AT DROGHEDA BASH
Wednesday September 01 2010
THERE was a touch of eastern delight at Fran Murray's recent 50th birthday party, as her two Japanese house guests got to see how to live it up, Drogheda-style!
'I think they were quite shocked actually, as they don't drink and this was the first time they'd been in an Irish pub,' says Sarah, Fran's daughter.
'They're a mother and daughter we met a few years ago and mum said to come and visit, which they did, and we were glad they could join in the fun.'
Fran celebrated her landmark day in the Star and Crescent, Trinity Street on Saturday, September 14th, and husband Joe, Sarah and sister Elaine were there, although only son PJ couldn't make it.
'He's in the army and was away for ten days so couldn't come, and he was celebrating his own 18th birthday the day before mum's,' explained Sarah, who moved from Dublin with the family ten years ago.
'Nannie Kathleen brought her three friends along, and they seemed to have a ball, sitting in the 'old folks' corner' drinking cocktails!'
Fran works in Boyne View House, and many of her friends and colleagues came along to make the night extra special, and the dance floor was never empty.
'DJ Pat Thornton was fabulous and really made the night, as well as Bernie from the venue,' says Sarah.
'Sandra Lacey also did a great job with the organising too.
'It's a fantastic spot for a party, and we all piled back to the house in Millmount Abbey and most people were still going when the sun came up.'
