Greed is god at present

Wednesday February 01 2012

Dear Sir,

The article by Gerry Floyd 'I'm not one for complaining but...' was worth €2 of anyone's money, for sheer satirical content.

If you went into the local library you would not get better.

The sheer cut and thrust and satirical evisceration of many of the totally ridiculous situations we the people put up with.

In particular, the €23,000 leaders' allowance with no receipts or any form of verfication whatsoever to get this money - which is yours and mine, the taxpayers' lifeblood at the moment. Worse still it is at present probably some pensioner' coal money.

And yet on the Dail Horse opera stage show this week, the bould Enda Kenny was exalting Opposition to don the green jersey and support Ireland, following the thumbs up from the Troika, for being good boys and squeezing tax out of the stones over on the Burren.

Whilst the recipients of the €23,000 each were queuing up to say they wanted to donate the total, which is €391,000 to assist pensioners in need due to the economic cutbacks being imposed on them by the present Government.

And if pigs had wings, they would fly... some chance.

Greed is the all-prevailing God at present, not Kenny's green jersey. Yours sincerely

Jim Brady City of Drogheda
