THERE was a surprise in store for birthday boy Paddy Byrne when he went for what he thought was a quiet celebratory meal with wife Patricia recently.
He was greeted by a host of family and friends as he entered Harry's Bar in Mell for a surprise 70th birthday party organised by his family.
'He really got a huge shock when he came in the door, he wasn't expecting it at all,' his daughter Georgina Kearns told the Drogheda Independent. 'He just thought he was going for dinner with my Mam.'
Paddy is a well known face around town as he works as a taxi driver locally and was joined by many of his friends alongside children Patrick, Graham, Georgina, Sarah, Josephine Alan as
and well as extended family and three of his grandchildren, Keeva, Kayleigh and Beth.
From Boyle O'Reilly Terrace, Paddy previously worked in Tegral Pipes and as a barman but loves his current profession as a taximan.
'It's a social thing for him, he has to be out and about and he loves mixing with people,' said Georgina.
Paddy
extended
his thanks to everyone for coming and helping to make it such a great night. He had time to recover from the shock of the surprise when he and Patricia spent a few days in Maynooth.
