Awards ceremony goes swimmingly

RESCUE AND SAFETY PRIZES HANDED OUT

OVER 60 children and adults received their rescue and safety awards at a special awards ceremony in the Glenside Hotel last week.

The successful participants attend water safety classes in either Drogheda or Gormanstown pools.

On the same night the Billy Tyndall Memorial Award was presented to the winners of the annual fun competition which was held on the previous week in Gormanstown pool.

Nine teams of four took part on the night and it was declared a complete success by all concerned.

The following teams won medals. The winning team were presented with the Billy Tyndall Award and they were: Conor Duffy, Edel Maher, Grace McNally and Andrew Rooney. Runners up were: Colin Griffin, Jack Byrne, Steven Martin and Eobhan Reilly

In third place: Kieran Patel, Cait Baxter, Conor Gibney and James Buckley. A presentation was made to Ms Frances O'Regan who is an Instructor and Examiner, for her 25 years voluntary service with Irish Water Safety.

The Louth Water Safety Committee would like to thank the deputy Mayor Kevin Callan and Jim D'Arcy, Chairperson of Louth County Council, for their attendance on the night. Also the management and staff of the Glenside Hotel for all their help in making the presentation night such a success.
