Get lifejackets for the lifesavers
FUNDRAISER FOR LIFEBOAT STATION
'LIFEJACKETS FOR Lifesavers' is the goal and the name of a forthcoming event in aid of Clogherhead Lifeboat Station.
Tayto Park is the venue on Thursday February 9th and the Meath and Clogherhead RNLI committees invite your support for 'A Lifejacket Supper' to raise money for the upgrade of lifejackets for the crew and volunteers of the Clogherhead Lifeboat.
Padraig Rath, Deputy 2nd Cox. Mechanic Clogherhead Lifeboat says,
'Lifejackets are an essential piece of a lifeboat volunteer's kit. In October this year Clogherhead Lifeboat Station will receive a new set of specially designed lifejackets to help ensure our volunteers safety at sea,' says Padraig Rath, Deputy 2nd Cox. Mechanic Clogherhead Lifeboat says,
' These innovative all- weather and inshore lifejackets have been designed for the RNLI'S search and rescue operations at sea and on inland waterways. Their design is a result of an RNLI expert in consultation with operational crew members around the coasts.'
The new lifejackets will offer better protection for the crews, are more comfortable and secure to wear and give increased efficiency and effectiveness for life saving.
' They will replace our present ones which have been in service for almost 20 years. Every lifejacket has to be returned to the manufacturer for an annual service so they are becoming increasingly expensive and difficult to maintain,' he says.
Over the years the RNLI has provided the best equipment available for lifeboat crew members and the development and provision of these new lifejackets will be a great asset to all our volunteers and crews.'
The upgrade of lifejackets for lifesavers is only made possible through the continued generosity of the public without whose support the RNLI would not exist and tickets are available for the supper at 7.30pm at €40 each to include a glass of wine.
