Morning Star crew doing their bit for 'Shave or Dye'

Wednesday February 01 2012

TODAY FM'S Shave Or Dye is back for its third year in 2012 and the lads in the Morning Star in Tullyallen are hoping to persuade as many people to take the plunge.

The date for the local event has yet to be confirmed, but Padraig Grennan, who co-runs the bar has already promised to hit the barbers, but will probably opt for the change of colour option!

'I've been toying with the idea of pink,' he says with a laugh, ' but business partner Adil Ibnouzehir says he is going to go for the shave.

' Today FM is holding the national event on February 17th but you don't have to do it the same night, so we'll release the date as soon as we can.'

Having raised more than €2.1 million for the Irish Cancer Society since February 2010, the annual campaign sees thousands sacrificing their hair for the greater good.

They smashed a world record in the process, and even went international with the Irish Cricket Team sporting shaves and dyes in their historic World Cup victory over England.

Today FM'S Shave or Dye 2011 raised a phenonenal €1,317,000.

'It's such an amazing cause, we really want to do something to help out,' says Padraig, who took over the oldest pub in Louth in early 2010.

' We'll have sponsorship cards available in the next week, and anyone who is interested in taking part can contact us here at the pub.
