Sharon through in 'The Voice'

Wednesday February 22 2012

DROGHEDA SINGER Sharon Gaynor has made it through to the live TV stages of The Voice after winning the 'Clash of the Titans' last weekend.

Sharon and Siobhan Mckenna, two of the best acts in the competition, were forced to go head to head in a 'sing-off ' with the victor heading onto the next stage and the vanquished heading for home. Mentor Kian Egan from Westlife put the two powerful singgers up against each other and later seemed to regret the decision.

He billed it 'Clash of the Titans' as he felt that they were the two ' big singing divas' on his team.

'Following their sensational blind auditions (Siobhan sang Beyoncé's Listen, and Sharon sang Aretha Franklin's Think), I had high expectations for the soulful pair - and they didn't disappoint!,' he stated.

Kian picked a powerful song to showcase their diverse vocal range, and said the pair performed 'one of the best cover versions of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me that I have heard in a long time.'

He said the performance was stunning but gave the nod to Sharon.

She will now head to the TV shows in the next couple of weeks.
