KEEP KIDS FIT

Kids Classes Raw Fitness, above the Mace shop in the village is launching their kids mixed martial arts kids and teen classes. They are also taking names for their hip hop classes which are due to start soon. Their classes are a great way for the kids to get active and fit in a fun safe environment. Their classes help build fitness and confidence in kids and are in great demand especially at this time of year when it's dark early and hard for the kids to get out and about. GLEN EMMETS LOTTO

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto for €4,000, held Tuesday 24th January 2012 are as follows: Numbers drawn were. 1, 8, 11 & 14. There was no Grand Prize winner. Winners of the €25 prize were: Derrick Johnson, Michelle Dowling, Gerard Weldon, Owen Boylan & The Foroige Club. Next week's jackpot is €4,100. Tickets can be obtained from any committee member or Mace Shop in the village.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

The AGM of Mellifont Parish Pastoral Council will take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Thursday, 23rd February, at 8 o'clock. The Pastoral Council works with and advises the parish priest on pastoral activities in the parish. There are 5 vacancies to be filled on the new Pastoral Council. Application forms may be had in the church and these must be handed in up to one week before the AGM.

FOROIGE NEWS

NEW HURLING TEAM

The first formal meeting of Glen Emmets Hurling team took place on Sunday evening last in the clubrooms. Having established that there is enough interest it is planned to enter a team in this year's league and championship. Any prospective players are asked to attend another players meeting this Sunday night at 8pm in the clubhouse to further the plans for the coming season.

SCHOOLS QUIZ

Best of luck to the kids from the school who will be participating in the Credit Union Quiz this Friday night, 3rd February. The quiz now in its 21st year is always well represented by the school and with over 25,000 participants in the 32 counties the local kids will get to show their knowledge in geography, history, music, literature and sport as well as mixing with kids countrywide.

JUVENILE GAA

Glen Emmets Juvenile Registration will take place in the Glen Emmets Club House on Friday 10th February 2012 from 7p.m to 9p.m and on Sunday 12th February 2012 from 12m.d to 2p.m. All juveniles from the ages of four to eighteen years of age who wish to play football or hurling for the club must be registered for the coming year. The cost of registration is as follows: One Child is €30, adult is €40, one parent and child/children is €60 and both parents and child/children is €80. The Glen Emmets are recruiting managers and coaches who wish to assist in the running of their Ladies Football team and various juvenile football teams. Anyone who is interested in undertaking any of these positions is requested to contact the club. It takes a huge amount of people to ensure our players get the best possible chance to participate in Gaelic games and we need the help of as many people as possible to get involved in the organization of these teams. BLOOD DONATIONS

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will be in Slane village this Thursday (2nd February) in St. Patrick's National School from 5pm to 8.30pm. So try and put this in your diary and try and make the trip down the road as they really need all the donations they can get. If you have never tried this before, why not go along and have a word with the staff, it is easier than you may think.

GAA DINNER DANCE

The Glen Emmets annual dinner dance takes place on Saturday, 18th February in the Westcourt Hotel. Medals for the men's and ladies adult teams, awards for the menu's and ladies adult and minor teams will be awarded on the night. Tickets are priced at €20, which includes a 4 course meal. As always this promises to be a night not to be missed. Contact any committee member to book your place.

SHAVE OR DYE

The customers and staff in the Morning Star are getting together to take part in Today FM'S Shave or Dye Charity Drive in aid of The Irish Cancer Society. They will be holding a benefit night over the next few weeks where Drogheda's finest hair dresser Joyce Clarke Henry will be shaving and dying heads at the Morning Star. If you are interested in participating, contact the Morning Star and they will organize a sponsorship card for you.
