Walk along Boyne Valley to celebrate St. Valentine's Day

A GUIDED walk will take place on Sunday, February 12th along the historic and picturesque Boyne Valley to celebrate St Valentine's Day.

The event will also serve to publicise the proposed restoration of the historic Boyne Navigation between Drogheda and Navan.

All are welcome, both seasoned walkers and anyone simply interested in a leisurely walk in beautiful surroundings along a historic walkway.

The walk is being organised by the Boyne Navigation Branch of the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland, which has already carried out major restoration work on the Sealock, or th efirst lock on the Boyne Navigation Canal at Oldbridge, upstream from Drogheda, and on the Oldbridge Canal section of the Navigation.

The walk will begin at The Ramparts carpark in Navan at 2pm and will follow the towpath of the Boyne Canal as far as the Bridge of the Boyne at Stackallen. The excursion will take about two and a half hours between Navan and Stackallen and there will be a free bus from Stackallen back to the carpark in Navan.

A guide will accompany the walkers and will talk about the many historic sites along the route. complimentary refreshments will be available to all those taking part at the end of the walk at Stackallen.
