A NEW service offering senior citizens the opportunity to live independently has opened an office in Drogheda creating 30 jobs and is expected to create 150 more in the next 12 months.
Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform Dermot Ahern officially opened the new Home Instead Senior Care office in Drogheda serving counties Louth and Meath, at a reception held last Thursday July 23rd in the d Hotel.
'The care of senior citizens is so important in any civilised society,' Mr Ahern told the assembled guests.
'It is an area which demands the highest quality of care and service. Home Instead Senior Care have been able to meet those demands,' he added.
The new Home Instead office at 20 Fair Street is owned by husband and wife team, Mike Rigney and Dr Natalie Cole, and is part of the world's leading provider of nonmedical, in-home services to seniors. Since opening for business last May the company has taken on 30 caregivers and that figure is set to rise to between 100 and 150 over the next twelve months. They employ around 1,500 nationwide.
Speaking at the official opening, Drogheda Chamber of Commerce President Patricia Rooney welcomed the opening of the new office to the area and commended the owners for creating employment opportunities in the area.
'We in the chamber believe that it is a much needed service and over time it will become one of the stalwart services in the locality,' she said.
Home Instead Senior Care provides services to seniors in their own homes, in a retirement facility or even a nursing home and is approved by the HSE.
Its caregivers help clients maintain their independence by assisting them with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, laundry, shopping, light housekeeping, incidental transportation, personal care and advanced homecare assistance. The result is peace of mind and independence, allowing seniors to feel safe while they age in the home they have lived in for years.
'Our high quality services inject a little extra energy and a little more convenience to life in order to provide peace of mind to our seniors and to allow them to stay at home for longer than would otherwise be possible.
'We can do this with short shifts, from one to two hours, right up to 24/7 around the clock care. All our caregivers are fully trained, insured, Garda checked and above all dedicated to Home Instead Senior Care's mission to change the face of ageing one client at a time,' said owner Mike Rigney.
