DROGHEDA travel company Arrow Tours has stepped in to offer those affected by the sudden closure of Budget Travel any assistance they can.

'We know this must be a huge shock for people who had been with Budget and any help or advice people want we will gladly help where possible,' stated Edward Hurley from Arrow, based just across the road on West Street.

However, he did reveal that those with vouchers are likely to be disappointed as the company no longer exists.

'For those with vouchers for holidays or whatever, the signs are not good for a refund,' he added.

Others who had holidays booked and want a refund must apply accordingly by filling out a claim form.

'The claim document runs to about eight pages and can take a while so again if anyone needs assistance we will gladly help them,' he added. 'Just call into the office.'

He also urged people to use bonded agents when booking holidays for next year. 'We are in the business 51 years now and we've seen so many operators going to the wall. With so many people using the internet now, it is important to know who you are dealing with because if you do encounter a problem, you may not be protected.'
