IT has become as much a feature of spring in Drogheda as the arrival of the yellow flowers themselves, and the 16th annual Daffodil Day Fashion Show, in aid if the Irish Cancer Society, in the Westcourt Hotel on Wednesday night didn't disappoint this year.
Hundreds of fashionistas packed into the West Street venue to see local models, including one or two surprising guests and hunky men in psychedelic underpants, take to the catwalk!
'It was an amazing and emotional night, and there are so many people to thank for making it happen, you wouldn't know where to start,' says committee member Colette Byrne.
' The sponsors Beverage Business Solutions and KMK Metals were so generous as always, as well as all the boutiques involved, and the stands were a great addition this year too.'
The function room in the Westcourt Hotel looked spectacular, with one on-looker saying it was 'a breath of fresh-air to see such a fun event in West Street, which is associated with doom and gloom these days'.
Stands by Boots, with their seven-minute make-over, the Design Gallery, Shugal, the White Door, Hickey's and GOSH went down a storm, the models were the stars of the show.
'Paula Egan was stunning in a maxi-dress from Kohl, and Sarah Taaffe shone in a red dress from Francelles,' said Mary Convery.
'The girls from Motivation Clinic Ruth and Gillian blew us all away with their weightloss and our sponsor model section raised an incredible € 7,000.'
Leading the way, and an inspiration to all, was committee member Stephanie Turner, who strutted her stuff shortly after finishing her final course of cancer treatment.
