Home-from-home in sunny Spain
SPECTACULAR WEDDING TO REMEMBER
DROGHEDA was missing many of its famous faces recently, as over half of the 104 strong party celebrating the wedding of locals Orla Lynders and Jonathan Clancy who travelled to southern Spain for the occasion, hail from the town.
Other guests joined the Louth contingent from Portmarnock, Swords, Portrane and County Mayo, in the beautiful Andalucian location of Nerja.
'It was a home-fromhome with a guest list that size!' laughed sister of the bride and Matron of Honour, Trish Lynders-O'Reilly.
'It was great that Orla and Jonathan had the people, location and weather to match their meticulous planning to make this an unforgettable day.'
At lunchtime, guests assembled on the elegant terrace of the Toboso Hotel, before being taken by coach to picturesque Frigiliana, where the wedding took place in the parish's beautiful 17th century church.
The ceremony was followed by drinks in the village square, with the guests basking in glorious sunshine.
After returning to Nerja, a lavish outdoor reception at the Casa Luque complete with stunning views of the sea was enjoyed by all.
All proceedings, including the adjournment to the Hotel Toboso and the partying into the wee small hours were captured on video by friend of the bride and groom, Martin Connolly of Glenn Alainn, Tullyallen.
Even Orla's young god-daughter Molly stayed celebrating into the night, dancing with all the grown-ups!
In-keeping with the venue, the bride looked spectacular in her stunning Spanish lace gown and carried a delicate bouquet, and was complemented by Trish and her other sisters, bridesmaids Aoibheann O'Toole of Grange Rath, Sinead Brady of Wheaton Hall and Clionadh Twomey of Skerries who all wore shimmering pewter silk and carried peony rose posies.
The bride's brother, Padriac Lynders, along with along with Robbie Staunton and Vinnie Myers were exceptional groomsmen, and onhand with the rings was best man Cathal McParland.
Proud parents Patsy and Yvonne Lynders and Breege and Vincent Clancy, were joined by the groom's younger sisters Suzette, Ella and Amy Clancy and the entire party in wishing the happy couple a life of health, wealth and heppiness before they departed for their honeymoon; a five-star stay in Marbella, followed by a luxury cruise.
Also making the return journey to Drogheda in great form following the excitement, were the husbands of the bride's sisters, Alan O'Reilly, Will O'Toole, Noel Brady and Brian Twomey, Bettystown residents Noel and Lorna Thomas, Louise McCormack and Rodrigo Collantes, Ruairi Kennedy of Grange Rath and local businessman Vincent McDonald and his sister Mary from Portmarnock, each declaring it to have been an amazing trip.
