Interest in 'Spot the Woman' initiative
A NEW initiative entitled 'Spot the Woman' is set to become an issue in Europe – all thanks to a meeting at the d Hotel in Drogheda!
As part of the visit of the European Commission Vice President Margot Wallstrom to Louth on Friday, a meeting of women's groups took place and that's where the idea blossomed.
Susan Mackay from the National Women's Council suggested that if there are less than 40% of women on the podium at any public event or meeting then a woman in the audience should stand up and ask why!
With that, Margot Wallstrom said that she was delighted with the suggestion and would put it on the agenda when she got back to Brussels.
Olivia Buckley from the We Belong group, Renee Dempsey, Louise Richardson and Rebecca Ryan from the ICA all spoke at the event.
