Riverbank estate closer to be taken charge by the council
THE RIVERBANK estate on Drogheda's Rathmullen Road is closer to being taken in charge by the local authority.
'I have been pursuing Drogheda Borough Council on the taking in charge issue for some time and up to now I have been informed that issues concerning the overall infrastructure of the estate remained to be addressed to the satisfaction of engineers of the local authority.
'It now seems that these issues are very close to resolution, spurred on by the developers demand for the return of the development bond which is in the possession of the Drogheda Borough Council,' said Bell
' The remaining elements of this discussion between the Drogheda Borough Council and the estate's developer concern the fact that no application has as yet been made by the developer.
'However it is expected that this application will be made in the coming weeks and that on the face of it the application will be favourably received and of course the elected members of the Council would then vote on the matter, hopefully in May or June, if not before.
'Of course the option remains for the residents by way of plebiscite to demand the Council to take the estate in charge should the developer fail to make application.
'At this stage Drogheda Borough are of the opinion that the latter approach will not be necessary,' Bell concluded.
