CLLR Tommy Byrne has contacted the Town Clerk Joan Martin expressing his concern at the danger of the entrance to the Boyne Valley Hotel and the impact it has on the neighbouring estates.
He says he has raised the issue on numerous occasions, but despite highlighting that a serious traffic accident could occur, no action has been taken to make it safer.
' This is the most dangerous entrance in the town,' says the Louth county councillor.
'I have written to Ms Martin and told her the residents of Castlewood/Roschoill, and those visiting the Boyne Valley Hotel and hundreds availing of the leisure centre, are taking their lives in their hands every time they try to navigate this entrance.
'It is nothing short of lethal, especially trying to turn right for the town. I raised this in public and wrote to the previous town clerk as a member of the council at the time. Despite assurances no action was taken.'
According to the Wheaton Hall resident, adding to the problem is a hump on the road on the town side, which obscures a clear view and should be lowered.
'There was unfortunately a fatality at this entrance a couple of years ago and I came on the scene shortly after it happened. I don't ever want to see anything like that ever happening again'.
