Series of raids in Termonfeckin
SPATE OF BURGLARIES ON HOMES IN AREA

A number of homes have been targeted in Termonfeckin in recent weeks.
GARDAÍ are investigating a number of burglaries in the Termonfeckin area over the past number of weeks.
The most recent incident took place last Tuesday at around 3pm in the Duff's Farm area.
A woman was out in the garden while her daughter went to the local shop.
When the younger woman returned home she discovered that two rooms in the house had been ransacked and an amount of money had been taken.
In earlier incidents, houses in The Steeples estate were also targeted and at the end of August a handbag, mobile phone and laptop were stolen from a house in The Stables.
A car was also broken into last week while parked in the village. A window on the vehicle was smashed but nothing was taken.
The goods were stolen during the night, while the residents of the house were upstairs asleep.
' There have been
a number of robberies from people's homes recently in Termonfeckin and it is very disturbing,' said one local resident.
'There just seems to have been a spate of them in the past couple of weeks. The community garda, Eugene Mulligan has been out and visited everyone affected.'
Local Councillor Oliver Tully said the current rise in crime in the village was an unfortunate by-product of the current economic climate and warned all homeowners to be vigilant.
'It is unfortunate that in times of economic strife this is what people turn to for easy money,' he said.
'People need to be mindful and make sure doors are locked and windows in particular. People think that an upstairs window is okay because who'd get in there but you would be surprised.
'It's also very important to use the house alarm and make sure it is always turned when you leave the house for any amount of time.'
