St Mary's help to aid the world

A DROGHEDA school was awarded a highly commended award at the Our World Irish Aid Awards, which took place at Dublin Castle last week.

St Mary's Boys NS travelled up for the awards and Minister of State for Overseas Development, Peter Power TD, presented the award to the teachers and pupils from the school for the project entitled Hunger In Our World.

The Our World Irish Aid awards encourage primary school pupils across Ireland to explore the lives of children in developing countries and learn more about the Millennium Development Goals. Eleven schools w1ere shortlisted for the top prize from over 600 schools that entered.

The awards were hosted by RTE's popular young peoples presenter Rob Ross and the overall winners were Crehana National School in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Waterford.
