COMEDIAN TOMMY TIERNAN TO PLAY IN SEPTEMBER

Wednesday August 25 2010

THE TLT is still packing them in and there's two great shows on their way to the venue in September.

On Friday September 10th, the RTE Concert Orchestra arrive in town for a performance featuring the magnificent talents of local pianist Edward Holly and Ciaran Crilly (conductor).

It will be an evening packed with favourites as the RTÉ Concert Orchestra embarks on a classical journey spanning east to west.

The glorious eastern melodies include Borodin's Polovtsian Dances, famous as the source of the song Stranger in Paradise, and the gorgeous Adagio from Khachaturian's Spartacus, known to millions as the theme of The Onedin Line.

Then we move west to America with exhilarating music including Copland's rousing Hoedown and Gershwin's vivid musical portrayal of An American in Paris.

A highlight of the evening will be Gershwin's much-loved Rhapsody in Blue with the dazzling pianist Edward Holly, himself from Drogheda. Tickets are €25/ students €15.

Tommy Tiernan takes to the stage on Sunday September 12th at 8pm for a show that will certainly blow away any recessionary blues.

Fearless, inspiring and armed with a breath of comic abilities rivalled by no one in stand-up today, Tommy is able to expertly write and perform jokes born from every corner of the mind, politics, sex, family relationships, international observations, religion and drugs, it's all there.

He is currently doing sell out 'World Tours' of every county in Ireland, so wait until a Meath man is let loose in the border area with Louth! Tickets are €28.

The TLT hosted the Garth Brooks Experience show last week and it proved a wonderful night for fans of the great man.

The show is launching a nationwide tour in September and further updates can be found on Facebook 'Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience'.
