Tiny tweeters star in their own chick flick

Labhaoise Ni Riordan, Molly de Faoite, and George de Poire with the chicks that hatched in their classroom at Scoil Aonghusa.
THEY WERE famous before they even hatched, and now the Scoil Aonghusa 'sicíní' have starred in their very own Chick Flick at just one day old!
Last week, the Drogheda Independent featured five little eggs that were just about to hatch in Ranga Tri in the Gaelscoil at Sunday's Gate. Well better late than never, three of the tiny tweeters made an appearance on Saturday, two days over due.
The arrival was captured on camera by Muiteoir Aine Uí Bhearain's son, who had taken them home for safekeeping, and it can be viewed on Youtube for all the eager pupils who missed the birth.
Although anyone who was expecting three fluffy yellow chicks may get a fright, as they are all black!
' The boys and girls were very excited about their arrival and a little disappointed that they didn't get to see it happen in the classroom,' says principal Muinteor Mairead Nic An Riogh.
'But they can watch it again and again now as it was filmed, and they'll be much bigger in time for Easter.'
The three chicks were even christened first thing on Monday morning, with Wally, Happy Feet and Eanghusa being the final choices.
'We all got to hold them and they are really fluffy,' said pupil Holly Ni Mhurchú. ' They'll have to go under an heat lamp now for a couple of weeks, while we give them food and water, and if they get too big by Easter, they might have to move out altogether.'
So what have they learned from the egg-sperience?
' That they may be small but they make an awful lot of noise when they chirp,' says Holly.
