Sean McDermotts 3-15 Westerns 0-5 SEAN McDermotts had it all their own way in Mountrush on Sunday.
The home team got off to a great start with an early goal from Patrick Osborne and stormed into a 1-8 to no score lead after 20 minutes.
Westerns finally got off the mark with a point from Anthony Durnin, but Seans added three more to their tally bnefopre the break to lead by 1-11 to 0-1 at half time.
Westerns came into the game a bit more in the second half with points from Terence Sweeney, Aidan McGarrell (2) and a point from a penalty by Brendan Curtis, but goals from Tony Kelly and Brendan McGahon helped Seans to a comfortable victory. Naomh Fionnbarra John Mitchel's JOHN Mitchel's failed to score in the second half as Naomh Fionnbarra opened their account with a comfortable victory at John Markey Park on Sunday morning.
A Bernard Osborne goal helped the home side to a 1-5 to 1-3 lead at the break as Gerry Maguire kept the visitors in touch at the other end.
However, Mitchel's offered little or no resistance after the re-start as Barrs pulled clear.
Best for winners were Trevor Dolan, James Duffy, Colin McGrane, Paul Treadwell, Bernard Osborne, Dessie Murray and Martin Crosbie.
