Farney honour for Joe
MONAGHAN GAA will honour former Sean O'mahony's JFC winner Joe Carroll (pictured below) with a coveted Hall of Fame award at a special ceremony at the Hillgrove Hotel on January 27th.
The former Farney star, who has been living in Dundalk for over 30 years, won a Railway Cup medal, lining up alongside some household names such as Sean O'neill, Paddy Doherty, Gabriel Kelly and James and Dan Mccartan.
In his native Monaghan colours Joe played with Benny Mohan, Frankie Mcquaid and Terry Loughnane as well as his club mates and fellow Hall of Fame recipients, Joey Byrne and Ollie and Paddy O'rourke.
Having emigrated to the UK for a time, Joe returned to Ireland and took up residence in Dundalk, where he helped his adopted O'mahony's to the Louth Junior crown in 1982.
