JOE Sheridan returned to the edge of the square as Meath had a good workout before resuming in the NFL with this challenge against last year's beaten All-Ireland finalists at Stradbally, Laois, last Saturday.

Opening half goals from Sheridan and St Patrick's Niall Mooney set Meath up for the win and they led 2-6 to 0-7 at the break.

The Leesiders included the likes of Pearse O'Neill, Daniel Goulding, Ger Spillane, Noel O'Leary, Colm O'Neill, Alan O'Connor, Fintan Goold and Donnacha O'Connor in their line up.

Brian Farrell made an appearance as a second-half sub and converted two frees. Gary O'Brien, Niall McKeigue, Eoghan Harrington and Sheridan were best.
