O'Raghallaigh's 1-9 St Patrick's 1-6 O'RAGHALLAIGH'S pulled off the belated shock of the weekend on Monday night as Colin Kelly's new charges inflicted a three point defeat on O'Donnell Cup holders, St Patrick's on their own patch in Lordship.
The home seemed to make an ideal start when Sean Connor netted to make it 1-1 to no score, but O'Raghallaigh's dug in and turned it around to lead by 06 to 1-2 at the interval.
A second-half goal proved crucial for the Drogheda outfit as Pat's got their campaign off to a bad start. O'Connell's 2-11 Naomh Malachi 1-5 FORMER county star Mark Stanfield racked up 1-4 on his return to Louth football on Sunday as O'Connell's proved too strong for Naomh Malachi at Courtbane.
The first period was a tight affair, however, as the sides swapped points in the opening quarter, but back-to-back scores from Andrew Sharkey propelled the visitors to a 0-6 to 0-4 interval lead.
O'Connell's hit the ground running after the break and Mark (1-2) and Dean Stanfield (0-1) extended their advantage to eight. Jason Clarke pulled a goal back for Mals, but it was too little too late and sub Conor Culligan sealed a fine win for O'Connell's. St Joseph's Dundalk Gaels THERE was another seniorintermediate upset at The Ramparts as a first-half Tommy Yore goal proved the difference between two evenly matched sides.
His strike gave Joes a 1-4 to 0-5 interval lead and Gaels could not close the gap after the break, despite the best efforts of Paul Burke and Anthony McSorley.
Joe's saw good performances from Darragh Smith and Mark Neary.
