Ladies NFL Meath Tipperary A FIVE-goal scoring spree proved just enough for Meath as they overcame the hosts at New Inn last Saturday.

Meath were award three penalties, and Elaine Duffy scored two of them and missed another. However, Meath needed a goal late on from full-forward Kelly Allen to ensure victory.

Duffy converted her first penalty after three minutes, missed another on 28 minutes and trailed by a point at the break 2-3 to 2-4. Allen scored Meath's second goal.

Duffy was again on target from the penalty spot in the third quarter and Shauna Bennett scored their fourth goal.

Tipperary responded strongly in the closing stages but Meath held on for the win.

U-14 Leinster FC Meath Laois THE Meath under-14 ladies kicked off their season on a high note with an impressive victory over Laois at Timahoe on Saturday in the first round of the Leinster championship.

The first half proved to be a real battle and ended with Meath leading by 3-3 to 1-7, courtesy of goals from team captain Eleanor Lane, Alicia Curtis and Naoise De Graff.

Meath upped the tempo in the second half and showed great spirit and resilience to claim a well deserved victory in this tough encounter. Meath will now face Dublin in the next round on Saturday with time and venue still to be arranged.
