Minors lose opening fixture in Breffni Park

DAVY DALTON'S Meath minors got their season off to a losing start when going under to Cavan in Kingspan Breffni Park last Saturday.

Meath who were minus the St Patrick's CS, Navan contingent started the game brightly and led 0-5 to 0-4 at the break.

It took Meath nine minutes to find the range, St Patrick's Donal Landy cutting in from the wing before shooting over.

Daniel Queeney pointed on the restart but Meath then went 17 minutes without a score.

Cian Byrne shot a 41st minute goal to put Cavan ahead and points from O'Donnell, Brady and Darragh Sexton left Mickey Graham's side four clear -1-7 to 0-6.

O'Donnell and Byrne added further points as Cavan moved into a six point lead by the 49th minute.
