FOLLOWING on from their emphatic opening round win over Skryne, last year's beaten finalists Duleek/Bellewstown were unable to continue their early season winning form as they went down narrowly in Dunboyne on Sunday.
Stephen Moran's late goal ensured that home side recovered from their heavy opening round reversal to claim the points.
With Craig Berrigan and Sean McGarrell dominant at midfield, Robbie Brennan's side led by 0-9 to 0-6 at halftime.
The introduction of Conal McGinley was a major boost to the combined outfit and he contributed three secondhalf points.
A goal from Joey Martin put the east Meath side back in contention but Moran's late strike proved decisive.
Stephen McKenna, Michael O'Grady, Michael Reilly, Ger Robinson, Berrigan and Moran impressed for the winners, while Joey Martin David Moore, David Crosby, Peter Curran and McGinley were best for the losers.
