holders, Mattock Rangers fended off a late rally from Clan na Gael to pick up where they left off in 2009.

The Collon men stromed into a 1-8 to 0-2 half-time lead, but Clans will be encouraged by their second-half display against senior opposition.

They slowly chipped away at their host's lead after the restart and a well-worked goal finished by Mark McGeown gave them hope.
