U-14 blitz produces competitive fare

Division 1 Group A Kilkerley/Malachy's Newtown Blues 1-2 1-1 Kilkerley/Malachy's won the key match in this group and finished with five points to the Blues' four. Conor Kirk, Tadhg McEneaney, Cillian Mulligan and Darren Litchfield played key roles and Martin Connolly, Bernard McCarthy and Neil Mulholland were also on song. For the Blues James Carter, Conor Moore, Ryan Coyle and John Connolly got most of their scores. Kevin Carr, Conor Farrell, Jamie Dyas, Kieran Walsh, Sean McNeill and Conor McQuail were always in the thick of the action.

John Mitchels drew with Kilkerley/Malachy's (2-3 apiece), they defeated St Fechin's 1-5 to 0-2 and lost by just four points to the Blues 41 to 1-6.

Kevin Gallagher, Mikey Nulty and Ciaran McCormick were their principal scorers and Neil Reilly, Mitchell Keenan, Aaron Kealy, Gareth Aylward, Barry Kirk and Connell Keenan showed their class throughout.

St Fechin's were very cooperative when they moved up to the strong section to facilitate the organisers. They fared well against Kilkerley/Malachy's losing by 1-6 to 0-2 and they were closer to the Mitchels than the scoreline of 1-5 to 0-2 suggests. They ran out of steam in the third game against a stronger Blues outfit losing by 7-1 to 0-2. Ian Collins was excellent in goals, Tommy Brady and Andrew King defended well, while George Blake, Conor Barnes and Liam McGrath shared the scoring. Cathal Duffy did well also. Division 1 Group B Oliver Plunketts Naomh Mairtin Plunketts came out on top in the Group B battle and the Mairtins game was the hardest of their three wins. Ciaran Cluskey Walsh, Daniel Rothwell, Fiachra Doherty and Josh Cormican combined very well and set up each other for the crucial scores. Alan Smith, Conor Earley, Nathan Lwellan, Karl Harding and Ian Floyd all played very well.

John Clutterbuck, Jack O'Donnell, Conor Smyth, Adam Winters, Evan Byrne and Ronan Costello played very well and Jason Geraghty and Callum Duffy also played their part for the Martins who defeated Dk Young Irelands by 2-1 to 1-2 and drew with Geraldines 2-2 to 1-5.

Dundalkk Young Irelands got their win against Geraldines on a scoreline of 2-1 to 0-2. Dean Maguire and Jordan O'Donoghue were their scorers in chief. Stephen Bellew, Tadhg McElroy and Brian O'Hagan also knew where the posts were and they had good performances also from Killian Kepas, Ryan Malone, Fergal Sheehy, Alan Minto and Adam McDonnell.

The Geraldines best performance was in their second game against a strong Mairtins outfit. They drew on the scoreline of 1-5 to 2-2. - They lost to the Plunketts 2-5 to 1-2 and to Dundalk Young Ireland by 2-4 to 0-2. Division 2 Group A St Patrick's Mellifont Rvs This was a fair result between the two strongest teams in a well contested group. This was the only point that Mellifont dropped. Six players got on their score sheet indicating their range of skills, Cathal Clarke, Jason Monaghan, Ryan Burns, Caoilte Hickey, Glen Matthews and Ben O'Brien. Niall carry and James McSweeney also did well for the group winners.

St Patrick's were unlucky as their games with the Brides which they lost by 2-0 to 1-2 could have gone either way. Daniel Rice, Pauric Reneghan, and Ray McArdle player well and their other players all scored, David Rothwell, Daniel Finaly, Jamie Kirk, Darren Lafferty, Jordan Donnelly, Paddy Keenan, Sean, McGeough and Joe McNulty.

St Mary's finished strongly in the group defeating St Brides by 2-5 to 3-1. Daire McConnon, Killian Burns, Peter Clarke and Andrew Mooney did well and B. J. Matthews, Stephen Bingham, Brendan Matthews, C. Keenan and Tom Minogue were never out of the action.

St Bride's lost by only four points to Mellifont and a single point to St Mary's and they fought bravely for their one point win over a strong Pats team. Emmet Kirk, Ronan Molloy and Sean Marry were their chief scorers. Conor Belton did well in goals, Alan Dunne, Ronan King, Paul Tynan, Shane Murphy and Bernard Laverty player very well. Division 2 Group B St Joseph's Sean O'Mahony's St Joseph's got their toughest game from O'Mahony's winning by just a point. Craig Doherty was their top scorer and Andrew Kiernan, Conor McQuillan, Ciaran Gallagher, Kieran Mulligan and Aaron Carolan were also on the score sheet. Jordan Mackin, Cormac Brennan and Aidan Kieran were also strong players on the Joes team. The defeated Clans by 3-7 to 0-1 and Roche by 4-2 to 2-1.

Dylan O'Hanlon, Luke Bradley Eoin Farrell and Mark White were very impressive for O'Mahony's and Rory Cooney, Sean Maguire and Kyle Bracken made up a good team.

Clan na Gael struggled in the group but they facilitated the organisers by moving up a grade, they will do well when restored to their group the next night. Their best game was against Roche where they lost by just four points 2-2 to 1-1.. Deane O'Donnell, Oyo Husidagbe, Ryan Hoey, Martin Leggett and Michael O'Callaghan played well. Kevin Carroll, Colin Doyle, Deane Browne, Anthony Maguire, Nathan Rafferty and David McGeown tried very hard for their team.

Roche Emmets got their win against the Clans but they weren't far adrift in their other two games where they lost to Joes 4-2 to 2-1 and O'Mahony's 3-3 to 2-1. Division Three Group A Cooley Kickhams Oliver Plunketts 0-3 1-0 Cooley and the Plunketts shared the group points at five each by virtue of this draw, both of them defeating Lannleire and Kilkerley/Malachy's

Declan Sheelan, Emet McGuigan, Philip Murphy, Thomas McGuinness, Conor McGuinness and Luke White all scored for Cooley and Fiachra Malone, James Loughran and Stephen Ferguson impressed. Cooley defeated lannleire 1-5 to 1-1 and Kilkerley/Malachy's 3-5 to 2-0.

D.J. Smyth, Gerard Harding, Luke O'Kane, Jordan Murray and Andrew Ward were very good for the Plunketts and their top scorers were, Adam Connor, Nial Murtagh, and Adam Brodigan. They defeated Kilkerley Malachy's 3-5 to 1-0 and Lannleire 1-4 to 0-2.

Lannleire played out a 1 – 3 draw with Kilkerley/ Malachy's. Darragh Goodman and Conor Dunne were their top scorers and best players.

Killian Kampes in goals, Ben Mulholland, James Bellew and Michael Begley were very good for Kilkerley/Malachy's and Padraig McGeough, David Rogers and Niall McEnteggart showed their skills through-

out. Division 3 Group B St Fechin's Cooley Kickhams St Fechins just edged out Cooley in this game. Ciaran McDonnell and Paul Matthews were their star players and top scorers, Vintin Gibney, Emmet Meegan and Conor Doolan also added scores and Sean McPhilips and Tom Burke played very well. Fechin's defeated St Bride's 3-4 to 2-2 and N Mairtin 6-6 to 2-2.

For Cooley Cian McCoey, Emmet Rogan, Peter Thornton, Adam McDonald and Craig McGuinness scored and Jason McCarragher, Michael McGlynn, Patrick Hanlon, Aaron Faughey and Conor Cullen showed their skills all through.

Cooley defeated N Mairtin 3-2 to 2-1 and St Bride's 2-4 to 2-3.

Daniel Kirk, Ciaran Deane, Sean Brennan and Ronan Bailey did well for Brides and Shane McCaughey, Ciaran McEnteggart, Dara McGee and mark Molloy caught the eye also.

Naomh Mairtin's best game was against Cooley where they lost by just two points. Ben Holdcroft, Conor Healy, Eoghan Greene and Sean Marry all scored for the Martin's. Eoin Dilon, Cormac Marron, Alan Downey, Cian Byrne and Cormac Jones were very good.

The second and final round takes place in Darver on Friday 19th March at 6.30 p.m.
