Meath's provincial triumph

MEATH have been celebrating their unexpected victory in the Leinster Pitch and Putt Intercounty Championships at Lucan, pipping hot favourites Dublin who came second ahead of Louth. In the doubles, Ian Farrelly and Anto Kavanagh (both Bellewstown) gave the Royals a great start with a score of 44, while Paddy McBride (Stackallen) and Trim's Michael Conneelly (51) and Wally Sheridan (Bellewstown) and Stackallen's Sean Downes (47) kept the momentum going.
Farrelly and Conneelly both had 50s in the singles, while Sheridan and Downes put the icing on the cake with scores of 44 and 45 respectively to give the team an aggregate score of 433.
