In the afternoon, there was an Adult and Junior com-petition with the juniors get-ting to pick their partners from the ranks of full members. This led to some juvenile tactics from some persons when their ability to hit the ball straight was questioned.
Others found the ‘Non-shanker wanted for Foursome partner’ notice a bit off putting! However, everybody got sorted eventually and it all passed off very sportingly, the eventual winners being James Bell and Brian Stephenson.
Bell was a fitting winner indeed, having not that long ago graduated into long pants after coming through the junior ranks himself.
The mistress and master of ceremonies for the presentations, Marie Wiseman and Brian Brodigan kept the audience in a frenzy of excitement and anticipation.
Prizes for the whole sum-mer season were presented to all the junior competition winners and thanks were given to all the sponsors and those on the junior committee who organise Seapoint’s golfing calendar.
Club pro David Carroll pre-sented the Junior Professionals Prizes to the first, second and third-placed males and fem-ales – Daniel Reilly, Joey Smith and Kieran Hoey; and Rosie Mulroy, Carla Reynolds and Gillian Herlihy respectively.
The Junior Boys Club Matchplay trophy, sponsored by assistant pro Darren Moore, was presented to Peter Brodigan, who pipped second-placed Enda Maguire. Peter was also named Junior Boys Golfer of the Year.
Kathleen and Fritz Stamer were the sponsors for the Junior Girls Golfer of the Year prize, which went to Carla Reynolds, ahead of second-placed Maeve McFadden and Rosie Mulroy.
