Drogheda performances just the Business in mudbath
Wednesday February 10 2010
CROSS-COUNTRY was to the fore on Saturday last as the North County Farmers hosted the NCF Business Houses 5mile race in Swords.
After heavy overnight rain the course was treacherous, and there were many fallers.
Drogheda and District had a big contingent led home by Derek Winters (Glanbia), competing in his first race of the year, in 16th position.
Next for Drogheda was Danny Skeffington ( PJ Geraghty) in 30:42, followed by Liam Cooney (Engineering) and Paul Smith (Firemen), whilst Gerry Mullen, Conor Cooney and Shay Clarke (Fingal Co Council) took second in the Grade C team event.
Declan Monaghan (Garda) Kurt Neilson (Fingal) and Barney Flannery (Physios) finished mid-table, the latter taking a tumble and almost ending up in the river.
Nuala Reilly, part of a team running for Health, took top prize in the Ladies Grade A team event â?“ great running from this seasoned operator.
