Go-ahead for new hockey club
A GOOD attendance at a meeting in Drogheda Grammar School last Wednesday has prompted organisers to proceed with the forming of Boyne Hockey Club.
Club officers were appointed and the loan of equipment guaranteed by the Irish Hockey Association and Drogheda Grammar School until such time as members get their own sticks etc.
The new club will use the existing pitch at the Grammar School, offered by the board of management there and will also have the support of Louth and Meath Local Sports Partnerships, as the Grammar School is in both counties!
Registration will take place on Saturday next at the school's dining hall.
It is envisaged that the children will train each week for about one hour, having occasional blitzes against other clubs. Membership is initially for boys and girls aged eight to 12.
