Drogheda School of Karate

The Barbican was the venue for last week's Annual Three-Day Summer Camp, and Paul Hayes – manager of the facility – and caretakers Pat Breen and Brendan Finnegan were a great help in facilitating the Drogheda school.

There were fun and games and a Kata competition included on the course, which was on Authentic Japanese Wado-Ryu do techniques.

Competition results: U-8 - 1st Luke Kelly, 2nd Killian Nolan, 3rd= Shaun Smith, Kate Krasovska; U-10 - 1st David Andrews, 2nd Sarah Flood, 3rd Sean Black; U-14 - 1st Blake Rowan, 2nd Laura Bailey; Youth/Adult - 1st Ronald Flood, 2nd Karolis Sinkevicius, 3rd Macdara Murphy.

Kata categories: Cat A - 1st Killian Nolan, 2nd Kate Krasovska, 3rd Shaun Smith; Cat B - 1st Blake Rowan, 2nd Sarah Flood, 3rd= Laura Bailey, Sean Black; Cat C - 1st Karolis Sinkevicius, 2nd David Andrews; Cat D - 1st Ronald Flood, 2nd Macdara Murphy, 3rd Martin Fogarty.

Training continues in the Barbican Centre, William Street, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm, on Tuesday and Friday nights in Nikw headquarters, Belfast, and again on Saturdays in Drogheda. Only qualified and insured instructors are on duty.
