Medals for karate club

Wednesday February 17 2010

DROGHEDA School of Karate came away with one gold and three silver medals from the 19th Annual North v South Open Championships in Belfast.

Star of the show was young Sean Black, the smallest boy in his category, who won all his kumite bouts 8-0 up to and including the final – an exceptional performance.

Emma Thompson and David Lambe claimed three silver medals between them, while Luke Kelly, David Andrews, Blake Rowan, Mark Judge and Karolis Sinkevicius also represented Drogheda at the championships. Some of them were unfortunate to come up against the eventual winners in the earlier rounds.

Upcoming events for the Drogheda club include their annual Cross-Border-CrossCommunity Project in the Barbican, St Peter's Parish Centre, William Street, in conjunction with Beverage Business Solutions and Nikw.
