On top of the world!

GERALDINE Finegan produced some awe-inspiring performances as she achieved medal glory at the World Masters Championships in Canada recently.
Most impressive of all was the 44-year-old Dunleer AC coach's triumph in the pentathlon competition on the first day, when she won all five disciplines – high jump, long jump, shot, 800m and hurdles.
Not content with that, she entered the individual javelin event in her age group – her only outdoor event of the Championships – and scooped another gold medal.
After a well-earned rest on Day 2, Finegan entered the 800m and shot and finished fourth in both. On the last day, she was second in the 60m hurdles in 9.72sec, one hundredth behind the winner, and third in the 400m.
'I wasn't disappointed with fourth in the 800m because I ran 10 seconds faster than the first day [in the pentathlon],' said Finegan.
'But in the hurdles I thought I had it won and put my arms in the air and was passed by the Turkish girl. I couldn't believe it!'
