Quill special guest at the Royals' night

LADIES GAA President Pat Quill was the special guest as Meath Ladies held its first presentation dinner dance since 2006, where medals were presented to the under 16, minor and senior county teams.

Mr Quill said he was delighted to be visiting the Royal County and congratulated all of the players on their achievements. He also thanked the Meath County Board for all their hard work.

The senior county team were presented with their national league and Leinster championship runner-up medals and the highs and lows of 2011 were recalled courtesy of a DVD created by senior manager Paula Cunningham.

Among the award winners were Cliona Smith (St Colmcille's) who scooped the Junior B Player of the Year, while the club of the year went to Dee Rangers and their captain Shauna Rowe was present to accept the award.

The senior county Player of the Year award was Fiona Mahon from Seneschalstown, while last year's Meath captain Grainne Nulty thanked Paula Cunningham and all her management team for the hard work they had put into the team throughout the year.

The ' Golden Boot' award for top scorer went to St Ultan's Elaine Duffy who notched up a great tally of 4-39. The 'Top Defender' accolade was won by Navan O'mahony's Aedin Murray and the 'Score of the Year' went to Geraldine Doherty.

Meath ladies chairperson Aisling Clery made presentations to Fiona Mahon and Irene Munnelly, 2011 All Star nominees.

The under 16 team awarded most improved player to Moynalvey's Ciara Donohue, and Boardsmill's Laura Dempsey took the under-16 player of the year. In the minor category the players chose their player of the year, Emma Troy from Boardsmill. Minor captain Kellie Allen made presentations to Jenny Rispin and Eamon Murray, both of whom have been with the same group of players since winning the u-16 All Ireland in 2008.
