STEPHEN Beirth's late penalty save proved crucial as Drogheda Town Falcons remained on course for the Under-9 Premier title with this narrow win last Saturday morning.
Visitors Albion were on top from the first whistle, played some lovely football and were unlucky to go in at the break scoreless.
Only for some fine defending by Killian Dolan and Ciaran Breen, Albion would have broken the deadlock in the second half, but instead it was Niall Smyth who scored for Drogheda with a fine finish.
The Monasterboice boys had a chance to draw level when they were awarded a late penalty, but Beirth pulled off a fabulous save to conclude what was an entertaining contest throughout.
