STEPHEN Grimes scored early in both halves and Billy Smith popped in a third goal a minute from time to capture the points for Woodview in this derby played at Glenmuir Park on Thursday night.
The win moved Woodview into third place and halted Bellurgan's good start to the New Year, having achieved two successive victories that dragged them up a couple of places in the table.
Bellurgan enjoyed a lot of possession in this match, but didn't have the finishing power after Grimes shot the champions into the lead with a shot from 15 yards that went in off the post.
The normally clinical Ciaran Sheelan was twice through, but was foiled once by a good save from Padraig Gorham, and shot over the crossbar in the other instance.
Mickey O'kane started in a forward role, but switched to defence for the champions as they changed formation.
They scored their second goal early in the second half. Keeper Gorham struck a free kick from just inside his half and Grimes got on the end of it, his angled shot from close to the end line near the back post flying into the far corner of the net.
Bellurgan again had more than their share of the possession in the second half, but Grimes should have completed his hattrick as O'kane led a great break from his own half. Grimes couldn't stretch far enough with an open goal in front of him as the ball was drilled low across the six-yard box.
Gorham produced an acrobatic save to deny Declan Sharkey before Smith sealed victory when he steered a ball which broke to him in front of goal past Robert Arthur.
