JORDAN Harmon proved the hero as Boyne Rovers Under13s held their nerve to reach the last 32 of the SFAI Cup.

Having scored eight against Mullingar in the previous round, this was a much tighter contest, but with half-time looming the Drogheda lads eventually broke the deadlock when Harmon powered a leftfooted shot past Maynooth keeper Killian Hand.

The visitors came out fighting in the second half, but they fell further behind when a longrange free kick by Daniel Rothwell sailed over their keeper's head. Maynooth halved the deficit from the penalty spot, though, and two minutes later hauled themselves level at 2-2.

Rovers reasserted themselves, however, and it was Harmon who settled it – reward for a brilliant display of teamwork and determination by the home side.
