Knockout performance

ARDEE CELTIC................. 6 MAYNOOTH TOWN (B)... 0

Ardee Celtic Under-13s who strolled into the last 32 of the SFAI Cup with a big win over Maynooth last weekend.

Wednesday February 03 2010

THIS Ardee Celtic Under-13 squad clearly love the knockout nature of the SFAI Cup after they advanced to the last 32 of the competition yet again.

A comprehensive home victory over Maynooth from the North Dublin League saw the Louth lads earn themselves a trip to Fairview Rangers of Limerick in the next round.

The Ardee boys set out their stall straight from the kick-off, delighting the spectators with some excellent passing moves at a hightempo pace.

They dominated in all sectors of the pitch, with goalkeeper Conor Keenan hardly having a touch of the ball throughout.

The midfield combination of Mikey Nulty and Robert Guinn controlled the match from start to finish, while fullbacks Kevin Gallagher and Peter Clarke caused major problems with their support play for wingers Ben O'Brien and Aaron Dale.

Centre backs Mitchel Keenan and Ryan Collins had the luxury of plenty of time and space to pick out their colleagues with some excellent balls.

And up front the forward quartet of Glen Matthews, Lee Darling, Aaron Kealy and James Conlon were a constant thorn in the side of the Maynooth defence.

Winger O'Brien led the way for the winners with a brace, while the other four Ardee goals were shared by Nulty, Kealy, Dale and Darling to hand the home side a convincing victory that sees them join Boyne Rovers in the next round.
