DROGHEDA Boys' Under-12 Major team kept their push for Premier football on track with this hard-fought victory over upcoming Dublin side Peamount at the weekend.
The heavy pitch played its part in what was a scrappy game at times, but Drogheda's determination to play a passing game soon paid off when Danny Burnell and Graham White combined to set up Gerry Harding who calmly slotted home.
The Boys attacked in waves after that and deservedly went 2-0 ahead when Sean Bannon's great run was halted illegally and Niall Murtagh scored from the resulting free kick.
A spot of complacency allowed Peamount to halve the deficit shortly before half-time, but Drogheda looked composed throughout the second period and comfortably held out for a good victory.
Best for the winners were Evan Farrell in goal, Daryl McDonagh, Burnell, Bannon and Murtagh.
