Reynolds leaves it late to rescue Dromin
RELEGATION-THREATENED Albion Rovers were probably the happier of these two teams after coming away with a point from The Junction on Sunday afternoon.
Despite being forced into a number of changes and fielding a young team, they displayed a lot of heart to fight back, and that spirit bodes well for the challenge ahead to avoid the drop.
The home side totally dominated the first 15 minutes and it was no surprise when they took an early lead, Ciaran Clarke netting from the rebound after goalkeeper Keith Mccarthy had done well to parry Stuart Reynolds' stinging free kick.
For the remainder of the half it was nip and tuck, with Albion not really succeeding in making any decent scoring opportunities. Still, Fra Mccullough was in top form for them in midfield and a big threat to the home defence, and he was involved in both his team's goals.
Dromin had a fine chance to increase their lead 10 minutes after the break, and that let-off served as a real wake-up to Albion who drew level just before the hour mark.
The visitors worked a short corner for Mccullough and he cut across the Dromin 18-yard box and let fly from the corner of the box. Dromin keeper Tommy Melia thought the ball was going wide and left it, but at the last moment the wind carried the ball inside the post and into the top corner of the net.
Less than 10 minutes later the visitors were ahead, Mccullough putting through Greg Fahy who supplied a great finish, with Dromin angry no offside was given.
It could have got even better for Albion, and Fahy in particular, when he dispossessed Melia and struck the underside of the crossbar from near the corner flag.
But Dromin replied with a show of mettle, with Bernard Osborne and Anto Mcloughlin failing to score in one-on-one situations, before their spell of pressure yielded an equaliser.
Just 10 minutes remained when substitute Neil Mcloughlin supplied a ball over the top and Reynolds netted with a half-volley from 12 yards.
